Tucked against a lush, private tree line in Land O Lakes, Florida, this project is a showcase of what’s possible when an outdoor kitchen contractor is brought in from day one — not as an afterthought, but as the lead designer of the entire backyard experience. Just Grillin Outdoor Living designed this complete outdoor living space, including the pool, and served as the general contractor responsible for building the outdoor kitchen, covered pergola, screen cage enclosure, privacy walls, and integrated lighting system that ties the whole space together.
A Chef-Grade Custom Outdoor Kitchen
At the heart of the space is a fully custom outdoor kitchen built for serious outdoor cooking. The lineup includes:
- Alfresco 42″ gas grill for high-heat searing and everyday grilling
- Alfresco 24″ power burner for sauces, sides, and stovetop-style cooking outdoors
- Yoder Smokers YS640S pellet grill, giving homeowners the ability to smoke, slow-cook, and grill low-and-slow — all in the same kitchen
- Twin outdoor-rated refrigerators for beverage and food storage steps from the grill
- Custom vent hood with a designer hood shroud, integrating a built-in TV cove so the cooking station doubles as an entertainment hub

A dedicated sink station is framed by a striking custom herringbone tile accent wall, while the cooking wall features a hand-selected decorative backsplash that elevates the entire kitchen from functional to designer-grade. Every cabinet run, appliance placement, and sightline was planned to make this kitchen as beautiful as it is efficient to cook in.
Covered Pergola Structure & Panorama Screen Enclosure
To make the space fully usable year-round, our team engineered and built a large covered pergola that extends seamlessly off the home’s existing lanai roofline, stretching the shaded footprint to cover the entire outdoor kitchen. The pergola includes built-in ceiling fans and layered lighting for comfort during Florida’s hottest months and cool evenings alike.
Attached to the pergola and patio, we installed a custom screen cage enclosure featuring a panoramic (unobstructed) screen wall, preserving the view of the pool, water feature, and surrounding tree canopy while keeping bugs and debris out. Concrete masonry privacy walls and horizontal slat privacy screens, each fitted with integrated up-and-down accent lighting, add both seclusion and architectural interest without closing off the space.
Whole-Property Lighting & Gas Infrastructure
No detail in this outdoor living space was left to chance. Our team ran extensive underground gas line trenching to safely and correctly supply the outdoor kitchen appliances and a custom linear fire feature at the pool’s edge. Throughout the kitchen, pergola, cabinetry, and privacy walls, we installed a fully programmable lighting system with multiple zones, adjustable color options, and automated timers — allowing homeowners to set the mood for a quiet dinner, a pool party, or a game-day gathering with the tap of a button.
Not An Overnight Project
This was a large-scale, multi-phase renovation requiring close coordination with the pool and patio contractor, precise sequencing around construction milestones, and a year in total from design to permits and to completion. As with every Just Grillin Outdoor Living project, all required permits were pulled, and the finished space meets and exceeds county building codes — giving homeowners peace of mind that their investment was built to last, not just to look good on installation day.
