Summary
Most electric fireplaces settle for a flat, screen-based flame that never quite convinces anyone. The Dimplex Optimyst® e-MatriX doesn’t settle. Using Dimplex’s patented Optimyst water vapor technology, this built-in electric fireplace produces a genuine three-dimensional flame that floats above a charred log set, drifting and shifting with the same unpredictability as a real fire — because unlike an LED panel, it actually exists in three-dimensional space. No gas line, no venting, no chimney. Just a real, moving, breathing flame effect you can install almost anywhere in the home.
At Just Grillin Outdoor Living, we know homeowners across Tampa Bay and around the country are increasingly drawn to water vapor fireplaces for exactly this reason: they deliver the emotional impact of a wood or gas fire without any of the installation complexity, byproducts, or safety concerns that come with an open flame. The e-MatriX is Dimplex’s flagship expression of that technology, and it’s available in four distinct configurations to match nearly any architectural layout.

The Most Realistic Electric Flame Technology on the Market
How Optimyst® Water Vapor Technology Works
Optimyst combines an ultrafine water mist with precision LED lighting to generate flames with genuine depth, color, and movement. Because the “flame” is water vapor illuminated from below, it behaves like real fire — flickering, curling, and responding unpredictably rather than looping through a pre-programmed animation. Beneath the flame effect sits a charred log set with pulsing under-lighting that mimics glowing embers, and an available crackling-fire sound effect rounds out the sensory experience. This is a flame-effect-only fireplace — it does not generate heat — which makes it just as enjoyable in the middle of a Florida summer as it is on a cool winter evening.
Shared features across every e-MatriX configuration:
- Patented Optimyst® water vapor technology for true 3D flame movement and depth
- Charred log set with pulsing ember-glow lighting for added realism
- Optional crackling fire sound effect for a fully immersive experience
- Multi-function remote control with Bluetooth connectivity
- Direct connection to your main water line for continuous, uninterrupted operation
- 120V / 270W / 2.25A electrical requirements
- No heat output — a true year-round visual fire feature, not a space heater
- Minimal maintenance – no gas, no ash, no soot to clean up
- 2-year limited warranty from Dimplex
Four Configurations, One Extraordinary Flame Effect
Every e-MatriX unit shares the same water vapor technology and core specifications above; what changes between them is the viewing angle and overall footprint, so you can choose the configuration that fits your room’s layout and design intent.
e-MatriX 35″ Front-Facing (One-Sided) – Model FEF3226L1
The classic, single-sided viewing configuration, ideal as a sleek focal point in a living room, primary bedroom, or dining area. Fireplace dimensions measure approximately 35″W x 37.75″H x 22.25″D, with a viewing area of roughly 31.5″W x 25.625″H — a versatile size that fits comfortably into most standard built-in wall openings.
e-MatriX 37″ Left-Facing (Two-Sided) – Model FEF3226L2L
A two-sided corner configuration that shows flame through both the front and left-facing panels, opening the fire visually to two adjoining rooms or angles. Fireplace dimensions measure approximately 37.13″W x 37.75″H x 22.25″D, with a viewing area of roughly 32.375″W x 25.625″H x 13.875″D — an elegant option for dens, corner installations, and medium-sized living spaces.
e-MatriX 37″ Right-Facing (Two-Sided) – Model FEF3226L2R
The mirror image of the left-facing model, displaying flame through the front and right-facing panels. Dimensions match the left-facing unit at approximately 37.13″W x 37.75″H x 22.25″D. This configuration is especially well-suited to cozy nooks, transitional spaces like hallways and entryways, or any layout where the room’s flow calls for a right-opening corner fire.
e-MatriX 39″ Bay (Three-Sided) – Model FEF3226L3
The most dramatic configuration in the lineup, offering a panoramic three-sided flame view that reads almost as a floating fire feature. Fireplace dimensions measure approximately 39.125″W x 37″H x 22.25″D, making it the widest of the four models and an outstanding centerpiece for larger, open-concept great rooms and contemporary living areas.
Installation Requirements Worth Knowing
Each e-MatriX configuration is designed for built-in residential installation and connects directly to your home’s main water line, so a plumbing accessory pack is included with every unit. The fireplace also requires a minimum fresh air intake ventilation of 40 square inches below the unit and a standard electrical connection. Because these are technical installation requirements, we recommend working with a qualified installer familiar with water vapor fireplace systems — our team at Just Grillin can help coordinate that process from purchase through installation.
A Design Statement for Any Room, Any Season
Whether you’re a Tampa Bay homeowner designing a custom great room or a homeowner anywhere else in the country planning a statement fireplace wall, the Dimplex Optimyst e-MatriX delivers a level of visual realism that gas and traditional electric fireplaces simply can’t match. Because it runs without heat, it’s just as striking glowing in a Florida living room in July as it is in a colder climate in January — genuine year-round ambiance, on your terms.
