The Moderno 2 Fire Bowl by Prism Hardscapes is a 29-inch round concrete gas fire pit and the most compact model in the Moderno series. It’s built for patios, courtyards, and seating areas where a larger bowl would take up too much room. You get the glow of an open flame with the convenience of gas: no wood to haul, no ash to clean up, and no smoke drifting into the seating area. Its clean lines and hand-finished concrete suit modern, transitional, and coastal-inspired spaces. At 65,000 BTUs per hour, it puts out plenty of heat for a small group. Compact Size, Full-Size Heat

The Moderno 2 has a 29-inch diameter and stands 18 inches tall, so it fits smaller patios, courtyards, and intimate seating areas without overwhelming them. Despite its size, it uses the same 65,000 BTU burner output as the larger Moderno 1, so you don’t give up warmth by choosing the compact model. At about 90 lbs., it’s also much easier to position than the larger bowls in the series. It works well as the main fire feature in a smaller space, or as a second fire feature beside a pool or at the edge of a larger patio.

Handcrafted GFRC Concrete Construction

The Moderno 2 bowl is made from glass fiber reinforced cement (GFRC), a material used in high-end outdoor products for its strength and durability. GFRC is lighter than traditional poured concrete but holds up to repeated heat cycles and outdoor exposure. The bowl still feels solid and stable once it’s set in place.

Prism Hardscapes finishes every bowl by hand with a custom patina process. Each bowl has subtle variation in tone and texture, so no two units are exactly alike.

Burner, Ignition, and Fire Media

The Moderno 2 is a plug-and-play unit and needs no assembly. Here is what’s built into the unit:

• 15″ stainless steel “cross” burner: the cross-shaped design spreads the flame across the bowl for even heat and a full flame
• Stainless steel burner plate: a durable base for the burner and fire media
• 65,000 BTU/hr output: enough to keep a small group warm
• Key valve ignition: the valve housing is on the side of the unit and easy to reach, with clearly labeled controls. Turn the key to the on position and light with a match or long lighter.
• Lava rock fire media included: natural volcanic rock that stands up to the heat and contrasts with the flames

The Moderno 2 is compatible with both propane (LP) and natural gas. If your patio has a gas line, you can run it on natural gas for a steady supply of fuel. If it doesn’t, propane works with a standard tank (sold separately). A propane tank will not fit inside the bowl, so plan for a separate way to house or conceal it.

The Moderno 2 comes standard with key valve ignition. If you want electronic ignition, you must purchase the PH-Ignite system separately. It is not included with the fire bowl. Think about your patio surface, house exterior, outdoor furniture, and landscaping when you choose. A dark finish like Ebony creates contrast on a light patio. A lighter finish like Natural or Pewter blends in with the surroundings.
