New 2021 Weber Summit Kamado E6 Charcoal Grill Overview & Updates

Weber has redesigned their Weber Summit Charcoal Grill to offer it at a better price point while changing some features of the grill. In this article, we’ll breakdown the features of this redesigned grill now dubbed Summit Kamado Charcoal Grill.

General Overview

The Weber Summit Kamado E6 Charcoal Grill is designed like a ceramic grill such as a Kamado Joe. However, the Summit Kamado is not made of nor does it utilize ceramics like traditional kamado grills.

What’s Different?

To get the price point down on these grills, Weber had to look at the features that matter most without sacrificing quality you expect from Weber. While these new Summit Kamado’s are nearly identical in appearance and features, there are a few new updates.

Diffuser Plate

The Diffuser Plate is now a solid single stainless steel piece. This differs from the original model which featured folding hinges allowing you to access underneath the diffuser without having to remove it entirely.

Gas Ignition

The change in this category only applies to the Summit Kamado E6 Charcoal Grill. Weber removed the Snap-jet gas ignition system from this model. However, it still comes standard on the Summit Kamado S6 Charcoal Grill Center.

Cart Stand

While still similarly designed, it appears the carts on both the E6 and S6 are not as beefy as the original Summit Charcoal Grill. This doesn’t affect the performance of the grill but appears more as a cost-cutting measure to allow the Summit Kamado Charcoal Grill series to be offered at a better price point.

Fuel Basket

The original Summit Charcoal Grill Center came with a black bin that pulled out and held charcoal. For the new Summit Kamado, it includes a 20 lbs black fuel bag versus the bin. This update does not apply to the E6 model.

Summary

The changes Weber made to the Summit Charcoal Grill to reintroduce these grills as the Summit Kamado Charcoal Grills is very minimal. They made four modifications that have no impact on your ability to cook with the grill as intended.

For those looking for a high-quality alternative to a traditional ceramic kamado-style grill, this is a very attractive option. The grill has a strong 10 year warranty including rust through/burn through on the lid, bowl and center ring; 5 years on the one-touch cleaning system from rust through/burn through; 5 years on plastic components except fading/discoloring; and 2 years on all remaining parts.

Traditionally Weber Charcoal Grills are low maintenance with life spans much longer than their warranty life. If you’re interested in this grill, give Just Grillin Outdoor Living a call today or snag one in our online store.
